Hi Experts,
SMLG Group created but can not connect from SAP GUI
Our message server = napw1rci.private.dm ( C I instance ) and 5 application servers are
napw1ra1a.mpv.dm (with virtual host=napw1ra1 and SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=napw1ra1) to napw1ra5a.mpv.dm (with virtual
host=napw1ra5 and SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=napw1ra5), after configuring SMLG, on SAP GUI message server is picking up app servers as
napw1ra1.private.dm to napw1ra5.private.dm (which are not configured with the DNS) and
also not confgiured in the dialog instance profiles, now we cannot log in with the SMLG group.
Direct logons via napw1ra1a.mpv.dm to napw1ra5a.mpv.dm are working
Please help

Hi,
As sriram says ,,you have to put the entries in the services
1. You have to add the enter in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\services file as "SAPMSSID 36XX/tcp
and
2. You have to add the enter in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\services file as "SAPMSSID 39XX/tcp""
and as given in screen shot .,.then it will connect automatically the best quality server .

Hi,
Can you please check what is the configuration of the below parameter and see if things change. Not had this kind of scenario so not 100% sure.
In application server
SAPLOCALHOST napw1ra5a.mpv.dm
SAPLOCALHOSTFULL napw1ra5a.mpv.dm
can you also get an entry in the host file of the CI for the application server.
XX.XX.XX.XX napw1ra5a.mpv.dm
And see if thinks change.
when you do nslookup what do you see.
nslookup napw1ra5a.mpv.dm
nslookup napw1ra1.private.dm
If both are resolved then some where translation is happening either your host file or DNS.
Thanks

Hi Rishi,
Thanks for your reply,
SAP log on screen in server/group field picks napw1ra1.private.dm from the message server which is not connectable. Actually the problem is SAP GUI picks up napw1ra1.private.dm for the app servers assuming the same doamin as CI domain ( which is napw1rci.private.dm) as well.
nslookup for napw1ra1a.mpv.dm comes up with OK with ip address, but napw1ra1.private.dm does not exists
I have also tried with the ip address (napw1ra1a.mpv.dm ) in SMLG , still the same
SAPLOCALHOSTFULL has the entry napw1ra1a.mpv.dm already , but when put SAPLOCALHOST = napw1ra1a.mpv.dm, can not start the dialog instance.
Services file entry is ok with sapmsSID 3600/tcp
Thanks

Hi,
Ok what about adding the ip address in SMLG in the Attributed tab.
364552 - Loadbalancing does not find application server
Have you added the below below entry in the host file of the ci.
XX.XX.XX.XX napw1ra1a napw1ra1a.mpv.dm
.
.
XX.XX.XX.XX napw1ra5a napw1ra5a.mpv.dm
Second thing do you have any firewall between the two zone.
1760329 - SAP in NAT (Network Address Translation) environment
If nothing works then can try to add the below entry in CI host file and see if works
XX.XX.XX.XX napw1ra1a napw1ra1a.mpv.dm napw1ra1a.private.dm
.
.
XX.XX.XX.XX napw1ra5a napw1ra5a.mpv.dm napw1ra5a.private.dm
If yes then we might have to think how to do the translation.
Can try to take the trace using date.

Hi,
Have you tried specifying the <hostname>.mpv.dm IP address within SMLG?
i.e. Within SMLG, double-click on the instance name, go to tab attributes and enter the IP address of for <hostname>.mpv.dm for that instance.. Copy/Save the settings and adjust for all instances. After saving in SMLG you may need to wait a few minutes before the message server gets the updated details.
If that doesn't work, you don't mention what error message you get in SAPGUI when trying to connect to the logon group. Can you please provide that info.
Thanks
