Impact of change of IP address in SAP system

  Dear Experts ,

There is a requirement that we need to change the IP address of two of our systems , But we are unaware of the implication of the changing the IP address of the systems,

1) One is Our Ecc development Server.

2) Second is BI-DEV system , which is on the Same Host on which ECC- DEV system is.

3) Another one is our Solution Manager system.

Please through some light , what kind of change we need to bring in our system, and where we need to change the description of our systems.

Regards

Rj

Hi Rajat,

You will be required to change the following entires:

1.Maintain the new ip in saprouter file saprouttab and then restart router process.

2.Make changes in /etc/hosts file in solution manager.

3.Change the entry in Service market place under system data. Also change the url entry in system connections if http access is given to oss.

4.If system is included in ChaRM Project, first remove the system from it till the necessary changed have been made.

5.The major applications of solution manager which get affected are one's which are using managed system information from sld, lmdb

or smsy. Therefore delete the old entries from solman SLD, LMDB and smsy which contain the information about old system. Be careful

when you perform this step.

6.Push data from sld of managed system (rz70 in case of abap and nwa->data suppliers in case of java) to sld of solution manager.

7.Solution manager connects to the managed system using RFC's. Due to host or IP change these destinations wont work anymore. You

have two options :
->change ip in all the RFC's manaually
or
->generate new RFC's from managed system configuration in solution manager.

8.For rest of the custom created rfc's make changes manually.

9.Go through all RFC's which you have created in other systems pointing to the systems whose IP you are changing.

Note : Changes in RFC is only required if you have entered IP in place of hostname.

Otherwise just making changes in /etc/hosts will suffice.

Thanks.

Kindly mark the answer correct/helpful if it helps you.

Hi buddy,

Check your db level..Like listerner.ora file and tnsnames.ora file.

If having ip add there you can change your new Ip add.

Thank you

Hello

You need to make sure that all the RFC's from the other systems pointing to these systems are working fine. If they configured with the host name then it should be fine.

The IP address of these systems should be updated in the hosts file of all the systems where the old IP address is maintained.

Once the IP addresses are changed just make sure that the transport directory is accessible for SAP and also RFC's are working fine.

If the saprouter is installed on the server where the Solution Manager is installed then you need to update that with the SAP Support through an OSS message.

Once that is updated you need to correct the saprouttab file if required with the new IP address.

Hi Rajat,

Also check

1) If  SAP Router runs on the server you are changing  IP address, you must create a customer message for SAP and ask them to      change the IP at their site.

2) The IP address of a SAP Router must be from an official range. You must also update your SAP Router's saprouttab

Hi, Rajat,

Entire System should have been configured on Host name because for security issues IP addresses will be changed.

1) Check whether your system is configured using host name not ip address

2) Check table RFCDES in SM59 For RFC Destinations

3) Check your TMS, any way it always uses host name but check  for any IP address

4) Check and Change IP address in host file ( windows\system32\drivers\etc\ hosts).  For windows system

SAP Note 403708- Changing an IP address

SAP Note 8307 - Changing host name on R/3 What do you do?

SAP Note 88346 - Changing the RFC Destination if IP address's changes are made.

SAP Note 154997 - Change of IP address in APO System
