BPM - couple of configuration questions

Hi all.

We've been working through getting BPM configured and monitoring some of our processes and have things working pretty well on a development SM instance.  Configuration is good, alerts are alerting, emails are emailing and in general things are moving along nicely.  Now that we have moved to our production SM instance, we have found one small issue that we can't seem to find an answer for.

When an alert generates an email, one of the informational links in the email is titled "Alert Detail list in WebGui".  On the dev system this section had the link populated correctly, while on the prod system this section of the email is staying empty.  We've been doing side by side comparisons of the same monitored processes but can't see why one would generate the link and the other won't.  Is there something that we're missing in SICF or some other configuration area for this?  Or is this a security setting somewhere?  Would be nice to have this working.

The other issue that we're seeing is that when the user clicks on one of the analysis tool buttons in the alert inbox we are currently getting a popup login screen requiring them to log in to that particular sid:client.  How are other firms handling this?  Are any of you allowing trusted RFC access to directly get the users into the monitored system, or is this too much of a security risk?  We currently can't select the trusted RFC in LMDB RFC maintenance for the RFC to Solution Manager drop down anyhow, just wondering how hard I should bother pushing in order for the clients to avoid the terribly onerous task of keying in an 'x' character long password...  lol

Thanks

Bernie

Hi Bernie,

You can get the web link on your email, just by "activating the checkbox Detailed" in Notification tab of your monitoring object in setup business process monitoring.

Providing trusted access is perfectly fine, no security issue will occur, because even you have given trusted access, you can execute only the transaction authorized in managed system. Trusted connection is just for allow you to login without password.

Please check

Thanks

Come on, Jansi, give us SOME credit..  ..  we have checked the detail boxes, tried all combinations of webgui, sapgui, both, etc, compared both systems side by side, but nothing ever shows up in the link section in prod only.   We're missing something, but can't quite figure out what.

As for the trusted access, I believe that the rfc needs to be changed in LMDB RFC Maintenance section, correct?  The only problem there is that we cannot select the trusted RFC in the "RFC to Solution Manager" drop down as it doesn't show up there.  Only the Login RFC is available.  How is that controlled?  (SM7.1 sp7)  On our Dev system we had either Login or Trusted rfc available in the dropdown.

Thanks.

never mind about the trusted RFC - found that the trusting relationship wsn't correctly set up.  Once it worked then the RFC was available in the drop down..

Ok, we got it all working.  It appears that the Detail link not showing up was also tied in to the Trusted RFC not working.  Now that the connection works, the link is showing up correctly.

Amazing what happens when connections work..
