I am assigned to handle document management for the corp as a basis person.
The major tool will be doculink.
I only have basis experience without exposure to ABAP.
Is it necessary to pick up ABAP in order to do my job better?
Is ABAP coding mandatory or optional to manage doculink?
Thanks !!
Doculink provides a 360 degree view of business document along with the application data, more over almost all the scenarios will be supported by standard doclink for this you need to understand the concepts and configuration of doculink. But if you to be an expert in doculink then you need to know abap because most of the scenarios need user exits where in you have to build a new logic to make it work in existing application according to user requirments.
Conclusion: intermediate level - Abap not required
expert level - Abap is required.

Hello
Douclink is an Opentext solution for archiving.
As far as I know there is no ABAP coding involved or required.

Doculink seems to be a Archiving Solution and if you are going to manage this application in that case you need to focus on the set-up and the configuration part of Doculink. It does not seems to be that Abap coding is mandatory for this application.
There is a document available for Doculink in SDN, not sure if that helps you, but have a look.
