How to upgrade Solman 4.0 To Solman 7.1

Kindly clarify below Queries:

The Current Solution manager is not a Production System.

Current Solution Manager Details and Version:

SAP Solution Manager 4.0,

Software Components Used:

SAP_BASIS - 700 Release --0010 Level ---------------SAPKB70010 ( Highest Support Package Currently Used).

1)can we direcectly upgrade Solution manager 4.0 To Solution manager 7.1 directly.

2)Do we need to take the backup of Solution manager 4.0 before we start upgrade of solution manager 7.1 .

3) How to take the backup of solution manager 4.0

4)If we are upgrading the Solution manager 7.1, what will be SAINT and SPAM version.

5) Is downtime required to upgrade the Solution manager.

6)How much approximate space is required to upgrade the solution manager 4.0 to solution manager 7.1 directly. Where to check the space for upgrade.

7)Please provide a document on how to do the solution manager upgrade from 4.0 to Solution manger 7.1

8)Please update the Prerequistes for the upgrade of the Solution Manager 7.1 .

9)Please provide Service Market Place path for downloading the Solution manager 7.1

10)For Upgrading the Solution manager from 4.0 To 7.1, new License and Temporary license is required or not??

Please read the below note to get the information about solution manager sp required for the upgrade or thing that you need to consider.

Yes you ned to take the backup and the export of the java system.

3) How to take the backup of solution manager 4.0

Use SWPM tool to take the export and offline backup of the database.

4)If we are upgrading the Solution manager 7.1, what will be SAINT and SPAM version.

You need to use the sum tool to do the upgrade and xml file . Sum tool will tell you if updated spam/saint version is required. Please read the sum upgrade guide.

5) Is downtime required to upgrade the Solution manager.

Yes

6)How much approximate space is required to upgrade the solution manager 4.0 to solution manager 7.1 directly.

There are many factory on which downtime depends but it can be up to 14 to 18 hours.

Where to check the space for upgrade.

You need to read the guide.

SAPCDs 60GB free space

Allocate 20GB space to upgrade filesystem so /usr/sap/SID

Extend the database size by 50GB

CPU resources required (at least 2 physical processor cores)

Just rough figure you need to carry out it in your test system and then get the exact figure.

We are not using SUM tool. SUM tool is not installed in Solution manager 4.0.

Please clarify the below Queries.

1)can we take the backup and export of java system can be taken via SystemCopy method using sapinst tool.

2)Without using SUM tool, can you please tel  spam/saint version  required for upgrading the solution manager 4.0 To Solution Manager 7.1.

Hello

Please download the upgrade guide relevant to your OS and DB and start the upgrade.

You can upgrade from 4.0 to 7.1

You need to take the backup of the database and the file system (/sur/sap/SID/DVEBMGS00/j2ee). The upgrade tool (SUM) will prompt to start a backup.

The latest version of SPAM/SAINT. When you create the stack file you have the option to include the latest version of SPAM/SAINT in it.

Downtime is required for the upgrade.

You will need to create a file system to put all the downloaded files for the upgrade (kernel, SP's). Download the upgrade guide from the above link. There is no need to install any new license.

Hi,

We are not using SUM tool. SUM tool is not installed in Solution manager 4.0.

You will have to install SUM tools just a example how to install the sum tools . But best is read the upgrade guide.

Yes Correct but SAP has renamed SAPINST to SWPM now.

From what i know you have to use the SUM tools to do the upgrade . You cant do it via SPAM/SAINT.
