SQL Server services problem (doesn´t start)

Former Member

Hello,

I´m facing an error when I try to start the SQL Server database services in Windows Server 2008, for this reason, we can´t start our SAP system.

I done a reboot to the server but even so two MS SQL Server services doesn´t start!

When I try to start both services manually, it show me the following errors:

Windows could not start the SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) service on Local Computer.

Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.

Windows could not start the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 1814.

I checked the Event Viewer (System) and the only thing that I see is the following details...

- For the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service:

The SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service terminated with service-specific error 1814 (0x716).

For the SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) service:

The SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) service depends on the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service which failed to start because of the following error:

The service has returned a service-specific error code.

Any tips?

Can you help me please?

Kind regards,

samid raif

Hello,

Please check the following link:

sql server will not start - Database 'model' cannot be opened. It is in the middle ...

Check the errors in the log files of SQL Server:

<drive>\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log

But it seems to me that is related with the database 'model' restoring... like it´s described in the above link.

Can you post here the log files of SQL Server services?

Hum... exactly! As I suspected, as I said in my previous message please check the following link:

sql server will not start - Database 'model' cannot be opened. It is in the middle ...

Hello João Dimas,

That solve the problem

I read the link that you shared... I followed the instructions in that link!

This is what I did:

C:\Users\Administrator>net start MSSQLSERVER /T3608

The SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service is starting....

The SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service was started successfully.

C:\Users\Administrator>sqlcmd -e

1> restore database model

2> go

restore database model

RESTORE DATABASE successfully processed 0 pages in 0.402 seconds (0.000 MB/sec).

1>

Now, I can start the SQL Server services and now the database starts appropriately. I started the SAP system without problems!

Thank you very much for your help,

Kind regards,

samid raif
