Reservation for project stock and plant stock

Hi there,

Here is the scenario we would like to reach:

We use project stock for our components, but sometimes, we get available plant stock for those components (for instance an old project with some rests, that we then put in plant stock).

When running a reservation for a component, what we would like is the system to check first if there is project stock for this component, and then if there is plant stock for this component.

It is not easy to check humanly for all the components we supply as they are numerous.

Is it possible?

Additionnal remarks: we use non valuated project stock.

We are on ECC 6.0.

Thank you for your help!

Claire.

At least is it possible that the system does not generate a purchase request, using availability check?

I can't find any custo for this.

Availability Check doesn't impact how PRs are created.

MRP runs independently on each stock segment.  If there is a demand for Project stock and no inventory you will get a PR even if there are many in plant stock.

Hi Claire.

If you want the MRP to check in Project and then in Plant, then you need to execute the MRP per material, if you find materials then move them to project stock and create the PR for the rest of the materials, but this process is long to be done for a project with high quatity of materials.

You could make a Z program to run this process, but seems complex because right now I don´t know the prerequisites for this program.

Hi Claire,

Unfortunantely standard MRP will not do what you want.  You must choose either project or plant stock for your reservation.  MRP does not consider other stock segments when it runs.

There is PS functionality called Requirements Grouping.  This is where project stock requirements are grouped automatically under another WBS from the one where the component is attached.

Hi Claire,

The functionality what you are seeking is similar to material availability check process. However in standard there is no option to check the project stock while creating the material reservations. But you can think about z program to move old project stock from multiple projects and update the plant stock respectively.

Hi NAG,

There is a way to check the project stock while creating the material reservations, doing reservation on WBS. Through this way, only project stock is taken into account, but not plant stock.

What I would like to do is that MRP checks both stocks (project and plant) in order not to create a purchase requisition if stock already exists.

Rgds,
