Usage Field in Item cateogary determination

Hi everyone.

I know how usage field works, however have few doubts regarding Usage fields.

First of all when I am using Usage in INquiry, quantity tab is editable, however while creating order it is not editable. It is grayed out.

Secondly, I tried creating BOM and included Text item in it wherein in BOM i used Item cateogary as T which means free item, but it is not reflecting in sales order.

And can you please tell me why we assign the usage field in CMIR? What is the relevancy behind that? Because when I am trying to do that I am getting a error No item cateogary  or norm text exist for the table, however I have checked the assignment in VOV4, everything is there. If I remove the usage from CMIR, and then try to add text item in VA01, it is working.

Hi Friend,

    Kindly note,

    USAGE field is available on the CUSTOMER MATERIAL INFOR RECORD in the VD51. It will effect respectively on Customer and

    Material Based.

    If you maintain the USAGE Field in VD51 then only it will have effect in VOV4.

    Since it is used for basically for free items level
