Hi,

What is a logical system (with reference to SLD)? What function does it perform ?

Why Logical System Name is necessary in the Business system details?

Hi Vinit,

Logical system is used to identify a individual client in a application system. Its mainly required in ALE communication,when u are using IDOCS and u want connect a SAP system with PI, PI system has to know its partner details and which client and system its got associated with.

UR 2ND QUESTION:

so for this purpose an logical system name is created in a ECC system with this format. <SID> <CLNT> <CLNT NO>,FOR ex say < ABCCLNT800> and assigned to a particular client and this will be given as the Partner No in the PARTNER PROFILE configuration in the connecting SAP ECC system with PI.

Also in BS,the logical system name is specified,so that PI can understand a data from this particular ECC system in this client is to be accepted from SAP by PI.

Logical System, as the name suggests is the logical representation of a system(client) in a particular landscape. In PI, they are represented as business Systems. A technical system may have multiple Logical sytems depepnding upon the client.

Logical system and logical system name ,set in the SLD, are used as part of the Control records values initialization in an ALE \ IDoc Scenarios. this allows the identification of the system in a cross application scenario.

The settign is usfull in internal organization integration scenarious (A2A)  and not in . B2B scenrios.
