NWDS does not connect NW7.40

Former Member

Hello,

I try to connect with  NWDS 7.31 Sp08  to NW7.40Sp03 server by means of Preferences-> SAP AS Java.

After I entered the AS Java hostname and Instance in the Add - dialog box - nothing happens:

- no error                      (if I give a wrong servername - an error box appears)

- no log entrys

- no server added

What might be wrong ?

The only way I found to get a connection to the NW7.40 server was by using Management Console perspective. But to connect there -  I need an OS administrator user of the server - that is not feasable for the developers.

Best Regards

Johannes

After I entered the AS Java hostname and Instance in the Add - dialog box - nothing happens:

Try to enter the FQDN of the AS Java and see if that helps.

Hello Benjamin,

Thanks for looking.

FQDN brings the same result.

I also tried with the servers IP address - no luck..

Hi,

What is the java version that you are using in NWDS.

https://nwds.sap.com/swdc/downloads/updates/netweaver/nwds/nw/731/doc/files/sapjvm6.msi

Can you please check the .log file in the .metadata folder of your workspace.

Check also the proxy configuration (if you use any) in NWDS' preferences.

You find it at "Window -- Preferences -- General -- Network Connections.

Can you access the NW 7.4 server from this NWDS server.

Can you add any other system?

Thanks

Hello Rishi,

I tried to use NWDS 7.31 SP06 and NWDS SP08 with different Patch levels.

As mentioned - no entries in the .log

I tried with networksettings "Native" and "Direct"

Network seems to be fine- I am able to access the server form the NWDS maschine e.g NWA - even from NWDS (PI Connect or ESR connect work perfect). And as mentioned: The connection with Management Console from NWDS also works but i need an OS administrator user to do that one.

Adding an other system can not be tested since i only have one. But - the connection to this server worked before the upgrade to 7.40.

Any other hint ?

Best Regards

Hello All,

Finally adding

service/protectedwebmethods=DEFAULT

to DEFAULT.PFL did the trick.

Thanks for all the help.

Hi,

Is their an firewall between the NWDS and the NW7.4 system.

Does NWDS resolved the hostname of NW7.4.

Check these two things.

Try to do telnet hotnameofNW7.4 port from NWDS and see if you can establish the connection.

Hope you are using the correct port.

Thanks

Hello Rishi,

No Firewall - NWDS and the server are even in the same IP - Subnet.

How should I be able to influence the port that NWDS uses to establish the connection ?

The only things I can give is Instance Host Name and Instance Number.

To point out again:

- with my hostname entered - no error

- if I deliberatly enter a wrong hostname - I get an errorbox stating that the SAP Instance could not be reached.

Any hint appreciated
