Export/Import buffer >95%

Hi,

From past few days , while doing monitoring my BW system. Export/import buffer hitratio is more than 93% and swaps > 6,284,033.

Export/import          94.86     20,000     13,399      69.56     2,000          2       0.10  6,284,033

rsdb/obj/buffersize is already set to 20MB(due to some other req.)

so should i increase this parameter or any other suggestions you guys have ??

Hi,

The statistics in your post show that the directory of the buffer (and not the buffer itself) has filled up. As a general rule of thumb the directory number of entries in the exp/imp buffer should be set to 30-40% of the buffer size. The current value of 2000 is the default, so I assume the buffer was enlarged without also adapting the directory size.

In your case I would recommend following setting:

rsdb/obj/max_objects = 7000

It is important to monitor the export/import buffer closely because in my experience an overflow of this buffer or its directory leads to an explosive increase in the number of swaps.
