.3.
Hi All,
I have inherited a system without any information and documentation.
Problem Situation:
The DEV, QAS & PRD Content server is 4.6 on Win2000 and MaxDB 7.3.0.20 on hardware that will die anytime. My predicament is how quickly to move this environment to stable hardware and newer software and hardware viz :
Content Server 6.40 and MaxDB 7.8 on Windows 2008 R2 x86_64 ?
These legacy systems are connected to our SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 landscape for Document Management (DMS) purposes.
Additionally, I'm having difficulty in locating current versions of Content Server & MaxDB from sap website.
Will appreciate anyone who can provide a path forward:
1) How to locate the current versions of the products
2) Can a later version being installed and a restore of a current backup used.
3) Any other workable solution
Thanks.
Regards.

Hi,
no new version of SAP Content Server. It's still 6.40.
You have 2 ways to do it.
In this scenario you install Content Server on the new hardware with MaxDB on the same version as the old hardware. Then you do a backup / restore type of copy.
Then you upgrade your MaxDB database to the version you want. Last version is 7.9 I think.
In this scenario you install Content Server on the new hardware with MaxDB on the newest version.
Then you do a system copy with the MaxDB tool loadercli. It's kind of a R3load. With it you can export data and import it on another version of MaxDB.
The simple way in my opinion is the first one.

Pierre

Install Content Server 6.40 with MaxDB on the new server.
Take a backup of the present database using MaxDB Database Manager.
Restore that to the target machine.
