FYI, this error still occurs for me in 4.1 SP6.  The workaround I found for it was to delete the folder or item within the file system as outlined above (note that I am not using the default file location, but this works when deleting from the file location I am using).  I was then able to delete the item from within IDT.  A reload of IDT did not automatically remove the item, but a delete would then work.

Hope this helps someone else with similar issues,

Tom

Hi,

what's your workflow here?

what is your version, sp and patch level?

there do seem to be a number of Notes about this. searcheable at www.service.sap.com/notes with keyword terms "IDT deleting resources"

See  article 1808196 - Get error "An internal error occurred during: "IDT
Deleting resources". java.lang.NullPoin...

Resolution

Problem is fixed in BusinessIntelligence Platform 4.0 Support Package 09
Patch 02 and Support Package 07

Workaround :

  1. Path to folder "C:\Users\User
    Name\.businessobjects\bimodeler_14\workspace\Project Name".
  2. Select the folder that you want to delete in IDT, and delete it.
  3. Refresh in IDT.
  4. If it doesn't work, try to restart OS and do Step 2 again.

Regards,

H

then you use the workaround outlined above, until such a time as you can use the referenced Patches to correct this defect.

As far as an RCA is required it would be a possible corruption of files at  the same location as mentioned in the point 1 of note.

Such corruptions, generally occur post some updates at OS level / due to patch implementations of security (firewall / antivirus) leading to corruption at registry level of user client machine.
