Error while updating SPAM

Former Member

Hi Experts,

I am trying to update spam on my system 48-51 and I get and import_proper phase error below:

The import was stopped, since an error occurred during the phase IMPORT_PROPER, which the Support Package Manager is unable to resolve without your input.

After you have corrected the cause of the error, continue with the import by choosing Support Package -> Import queue from the initial screen of the Support Package Manager.

The following details help you to analyze the problem:

    -   Error in phase: IMPORT_PROPER

    -   Reason for error: SPAM_SYNCHRONIZE_PAT03_TEPSIN

Screen shot for your reference is attached here with.

Kindly suggest me how to resolve the issue.

Regards,

SURYA

Hi Surya,

It seems, you are trying to updating the SPAM for applying support pack and all.

Instead of this, I would suggest you to use SUM tool.

What is SUM:
It is a multipurpose tool, which supports various processes. Such as

  • Release Upgrade
  • Installing Enhancement package
  • Applying Support packages
  • It has latest SPAM and JSPM

Benefits of SUM over SPAM and JSPM:

  • Two different tools are not required to apply SPS
  • No need to uncar SAR/CAR files
  • Minimum downtime
  • Simultaneously the SPS are applied to both JAVA and ABAP stack.

If you use this...I think you will get rid of these errors.

hi Surya,

first execute this transaction code /$sync and try again if you still get same issue then check below notes. It might be helpful.

SAP Note 106764 - Synch. during transport:

SAP Note 1491290 Missing synchronization after importing include deletions

Please have a look at below thread,

Hi,

In the error it's clearly mentioning that SPAM_SYNCHRONIZE_PAT03_TEPSIN function module is missing. I even checked that in SE37 which throwed a message that FM doesn't exist. Kindly suggest me how to resolve.
