Embedding images in Web I report and displaying it in SAP BI Mobile

Hello experts

I have followed the recommended approach (option 2 as mentioned in the below screenshot) for displaying images on my iPad. Please see a snapshot attached from the SAP BI Mobile

  1. 5.x Admin & report designer guide .

Created a variable having the formula ="boimg://...../....../" + [Brand].[Brand - Text]+".gif" . Placed this variable in the tables and also tried with free standing cell.

When I execute the report , by passing the prompt values for 'Brands' , the report work fine on  BI Launchpad. However, on an ipad it just shows me the text of my formula and not the image.

Am  I missing out anything here?

Hi Anshul,

it will only work, if you provide boimg://image.png

Here i gues you are trying to embed a formula for brand display as well. It wont pick that.

I tried it as well.

If you hardcore th image url, it works

if you keep it on the server location under images it works.

if you try to assign formula, it wont work. it will display on launchpad, but on ipad, you will get the formula listed itself.

i guess this functionality is missing

Atul,

I tried hard-coding the image URL with 'boimg://California.gif' but still it is not working to me . Did u mean that only .png file will work and not .jpg anf .gif ?

Atul,

I tried with .png file and by hardcoding 'boimg//:California.png' but the results were same for me. Image appears on BI Launchpad bot not on SAP BI Mobile version 5.0.7.11. SAP BOE is 4.0 SP6 P3.

Let me know if I am missing something here

HI Anshul,

Create a webi report

add a blank cell

right click, go to format cell

go to appearance

image from URL

add the boimg image url

make sure it is present in images location with same name

save and close

export to Mobile and MobileDesigned

It works for me

Hi Atul

yes, this certainly works.

My requirement was to choose value from prompts , lets say prompt for different brand values and based on this selected brand value the image should be displayed. This works fine on BI Launchpad but on an iPad it still remains an issue.

Any update when can we expect this to get fixed in SAP BI Mobile ?

Hi Anshul,

Mobi still does not accept dynamic values.

I guess, it should be fixed in the next coming version 5.1 for mobile

Dates, i am not sure yet!!
