SAP stack upgrade

Hi all,

My SAP server is on ECC 6.0 EHP6 Stack 5. Following a requirement, I need to upgrade it to stack 8 or latest which is 9. I've already started the download of the SPs thru SOLMAN maintenance optimizer. I want to know what tool I should use to do the upgrade - is it SPAM/SAINT or SUM?

Hello,

You should use SUM to update SP stack as it will take less downtime as compared to SPAM/SAINT process.

So you mean it will be faster with SUM?

Ok, I'll proceed with SUM. I'm upgrading the SPAM/SAINT tool and the kernel currently. Is there anything else I need to do before launching the SUM tool?

No, Infact SUM will take care of kernel upgrade and SPAM. But since you have already started that, you can use SUM after that.
