Hi Experts,
Could anyone tell me how do sample size calculate in physical sample on basis of below data:
1. Sampling Scheme (SL1)
2. Sampling Procedure
3. Sample Drawing Procedure
Base Unit of Measure is KG in MMR.
I have created Sampling Scheme, Sampling procedure & Sample Drawing procedure as above attached screen shot.
Created Inspection plan wherein assigned Inspection point 200 & Sampling Scheme SL1 at header.
1. There is single operation 0010 wherein assigned single MIC with sampling procedure SMPL0005 with base quantity 1 and Sample Unit of Measure is G (Gram) .
In above scenario, when I create Inspection lot (Origin 05) with Lot quantity say 100 KG, System creates 2 physical sample (i.e OK as per Sample Drawing procedure) with Sample size 50 G each
My question is how do system calculate Sample size as 50 G for each Physical sample?
2. If Sample Unit of Measure is KG for same MIC, then Sample size calculated as 6 Kg each. How it is?
Hi Rajesh,
For the Point no 2,
Sample size is 6 for lot qty.100 because you have maintained the same in Sampling scheme. For the lot size from 51 to 200, sample size would be 6.

Hi,
Not exactly for the point no 1 that's why did not mention earlier. But what I think that system created two samples of 50 each based on your lot qty 100. Try with lot qty 150 or 200 and see if sample are created with 75 or 100 respectively (As your fixed number is 2)
If it happens, then 'fixed number' is the factor. Also reading its F1 help, it creates sample either on the basis of Sampling scheme Or, on the basis of your given number. So I think this is responsible.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
But as I checked earlier it is not working as you said.
I had created inspection lot qty 49, 50, 100, 150, 200. For every lot system creates sample size as 50 G each.
For Inspection lot qty 10 - 30 G each
For Inspection lot qty 11 & Onward 11 to till 200 - 50 G each.
I think 30 G & 50 G is minimum sample size in G which is somewhere hardcoded. Need to check with ABAP debugging.
Hi,
Pl make two inspection lots with qty 10 Kg and 1 Kg. And check what is the sample sizes for these two lots ???
Oh,, just read your response. So you go 30 for 10Kg lot. Correct. It would come to 12 for 1 KG and 6 for qty lesser than 200.
What I feel is happening that when you change the AUoM to Gm, this gets affected by lot sizes mentioned in Sampling scheme.
1. 100 Kg is 100000 gm, so sample size is 50.
2. 10 Kg is 10000 gm, so sample size is 30.
and so on...
Make a lot for 500 gm, sample size would be 12. Lot of 200, it would be 6. PL check and confirm

So basically, sample size is being calculated in the basis of sampling scheme only.
When you change the units, it follow the lot size accordingly and thus calculates the sample size.
Therefore, you got sample size 6 against lot qty 100 with 'Kg' unit. But sample is 50 for lot 100 with 'gm' unit because 100 kg in gram would 100,000 and sample size for that is 50 as per the sampling scheme.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Your thinking is correct.
For Inspection lot Qty 500 gm - Sample size comes 12
For Inspection lot Qty 200 gm - Sample size comes 6
Accordingly I changed sampling scheme I tested scenario, I understand how do system calculate sample size for physical sample.
Example: For below change in Sampling scheme
1. 10 Kg is 10000 gm, so sample size is 31.
2. 11 KG & onwards 11 kg sample size is 61.
I created Inspection lot for 10 kg & got sample size as 31
I created Inspection lot for Qty 11000 gm & got sample size as 61 & so on........
Thanks..................Resolved doubt.
