Printing SAPscript to PDF1 and Barcodes

Hi Experts,

We are on NW 7.31 SP08. I'm pretty sure note 1558595 is implemented.

I've followed a series of steps on this thread http://scn.sap.com/thread/585493

and this link also http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/ABAP/Step-by-step+Sapscript+Barcode+Printing#Step-by-stepSapscr... but without much success.

Can anyone help me with how I can get barcodes to print to PDF please? I'm using PDF1 printer, do I need to change any settings?

Any assistance is appreciated.

Regards

Paskal.

Hi,

When you print via SAPSprint and SAPPDFPPRINT, it ustilizes windows
drivers even with SAP device type PDF1.

When you print via windows and a windows device type, then a barcode.dll
needs to be installed in the windows server. Please see point 2 of the
following note:

1557674 - Overview of bar code printing from SAP

Please also see note 14561.

Another possiblity is to use the New Bar Code technology as described
in point 3 of note 1557674 and the following note:

645158 - New bar code technology

So you must barcodes created via the New Bar Code technology in your
Smart Form or SAPscript form. You can create bar codes via transaction
SE73 -> System Bar Codes and select they they shall use the New Bar Code
technology.

So if you use a barcode dll or use barcodes that were created via the
New Bar Code Technology, are the barcodes then printed via SAPSprint and
SAPPDFPRINT?

Aidan

Hi Aidan,

Thanks for your response. My understanding was, that if I use New Barcode Technology (which I am) then I do not need to install any drivers. Is that true or not? I've created custom System Bar Codes using transaction SE73. I've created types Code 39 and Code 128 but none of these render the barcode correctly in my PDF document. I've also just tried PDF 417 too, no such luck. Any other light you can shed on this issue?

Regards,
