HANA AWS - instance size and memory requirements

I've running the standard size hana on AWS with 32GB ram. I am reading it correctly when it seems like this is barely enough? In the admin, the ram indicator is red and with a peak of something close to all available ram used.

Well it should use about 16Gb when started so I guess you loaded some data.

But yes, 32Gb is barely enough to rub HANA.

Could it be something to do with backup? Ran a backup (fresh image), and suddenly down to about 16GB.

No, definitely not. More likely the indexserver process restarted. Is the "last started time" more recent. Glad it is sorted, anyhow.

32GB instance requires 16GB overhead which gives you 8GB for data and 8GB for calculation space. Enough to play with some small models, a few hundred million rows.
