Shelf life data in SNP

Dear all

We are on release SCM 7.0.

We have 2 requirements:

1. During SNP heuristics we do not want to include expired batches for stock netting.

2. During deployment we do not want to use expired batches in the ATD quantity.

Expired batches are handled by the batch status (blocked or custom statuses) in ECC. Expired batches are also handled by posting them to a stock type in ECC (for example blocked stock or returns).

Can requirements 1 and 2 be met using standard functionality? Or else please advice how to do this?

Hi all

Thank you very much for the answers. I still have a question regarding the standard SNP functionality: in case the batch status is changed into restricted in ECC, will the restricted batch still be used as availalbe stock in SNP heuristics?

Will the restricted batch be used as available stock for deployment?

Hi Peter

All livecache orders in APO (including Stocks) are controlled by ATP Order Categories. For Unrestricted Stocks this is usually category 'CC', if a batch is placed in 'Blocked' it will get category 'CI', if it is placed in 'Restricted-use' it gets category 'CK'. These changes should come via the CIF from ECC into APO as long as an Integration Model is maintained with the 'Batches' indicator set.

The SNP planning functions (Heuristics and Deployment included) make use of these categories when they do the planning calculations. If there has been no changes to your SAP system configuration (i.e. you are talking true standard 'vanilla' implementation) then the planning functions will only see the 'CC' category stock for it's planning so will not see (and therefore plan) category 'CI' and 'CK' stocks.

Hi, as long as you can see the shelf life data of the batches in product view (/sapapo/rrp3), you can use SNP shelf life planning. First you can try standard SNP planning book 9ASNP_SHLF/SHELF_LIFE, where key figures and macros are specially configured for shelf life usage.

Hi

For the Deployment requirement, if you are only talking about existing Stock availability (e.g. your expired stock has a Stock Category for Blocked Stock - CI) then you can control the ATD Quantity for Deployment by assigning a Category Group at Location or Product Location level to exclude this category from the ATD Quantity. If these Expired batches are also of a Stock Category then you can control the categories reflected in the Stock Level also buy using the Stock Category Group on the Location or Location Product record (see the SNP Tab on the Location record).

If you also require the Heuristic to take account of future expired stocks then you will need another function to run after the Heuristics, this is called "Propagation of Shelf Life Data". If you read under SAP Help you will see the functionality available here:

Hope that helps
