System Copy error in phase Start instance

Hello,

I´m doing a system copy/migration between to servers using the export/import method! I already did the export in source server/system (Windows 2012/MS SQL Server 2012) and now I´m doing the secound part of this process in target server where I´m doing the installation / system copy of source system in Windows Server 2008 (R2) with Oracle 11.2.0.2, but now I´m facing an error during the phase Start instance (phase 25 of 38), I´m using the SWPM tool.

I checked some log files like dev_disp and dev_w0:

- dev_disp:

Can you help me please?

HI,

Dispatcher is getting shutdown....

Regarding this warning: "*** WARNING => DpMsAttach: parameter 'rdisp/tolerate_loopback_addr' is set (cf. SAP note 1054467 for details)" it result because I faced a similar error before ( *** DP_FATAL_ERROR => DpMsAttach: local hostname 'xxx' is resolved to loopback address (cf. Which user you have used to login to the system?it should be <sid>adm.

You can just reboot the server and check.

Hello,

I´m doing this copy in windows server 2008 (R2) logged with the other user different of <sid>adm because, first of all in the system copy guide it is mentioned that is not recommended to do this activity with <sid>adm and second because I hadn´t the <sid>adm user because this is a new server, where I´m installing this new system using a export database from the source server!

So... this SO user only have set the ORACLE_HOME environment variable and the TEMP and TMP! In the system variables, I see the PATH has the following entries:
C:\oracle\ORA\11202\bin;%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\

Any tips?

Have you for the entry dbms_type = ora in the default profile, check this note

556232  - Environment settings for R/3/Oracle on Windows

Hello,

I set the parameter dbms_type =  ora in the defaut profile. I start again the SWPM tool but it stopped again with the same error in the same phase! So, unfortunately that´s not the solution!

Hi Samid,

Please set dbms_type like this in system variables and restart the sapinst process.

Hello Abhimanyu,

I did that, I set the dbms_type as environment system variable then I reboot the server. I started again the SWPM tool but once again the same error is show me in the same phase!

I check the dev_w0 log and I run again the r3trans -d:

Hello Prabhakar,

I tried other thing... I stopped the SWPM tool and I changed to the SO user <sid>adm and with the <sid>adm I tried to start the SAP system through the SAPMMC but the system show me an error in disp+work (stopped).

I checked the log files dev_w0 and dev_disp:

- In dev_w0 I see the following error and warning:

So... this is logged with <sid>adm (oraadm) user even so the system can start! But as I said before I must continue the installation/system copy with Software Provisioning Manager (SWPM) with the other SO user as recomended by SAP!

Can you help me please, how to solve this problem!?

Hi,

So it seems that oracle database is not up, then please try to startup

database once again and attach to this message the whole oracle alert

log.

Error 1034 in the logs is followed by
ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist

Please make sure, the database is installed correctly.

Possible reasons for above mentioned errors are listed in note
491174- "Composite SAP note for ORA-01034"

Hi,

Now Error message is different. It is trying to connect Oracle now but oracle seems down as per your logs. Please make sure that oracle and it's related listener is running and you are able to login using sqlplus.

Hi,

Have you tried the steps that were told to you .

Try the below steps.

Shut down SAP processes again .

Re-initiated the .profile and environment variables

If required you can restart the windows to clean memory segment.

Restart the application manually.

Another thing is the oracle running.

As you are using SSFS please cehck the below note if oracle is up and running.

1860519 - SAP fails to connect to the database

1622837 - Secure connection of AS ABAP to Oracle via SSFS

SAP Note #1639578 explains the new SSFS system and provides the steps necessary to configure this on your system. Once this is setup and the required secure files with the credentials are on place this should help you past this error:

-> Pay attention that the environment variable rsdb_ssfs_connect = 1 should be entered in lower case

-> R3trans -d should work by then and SSF should be picked up

You need to restart SAP system after adding the rsdb/ssfs_connect = 1 entry to the profile, in order to be taken into account.

Once that is done, R3trans will pickup on that profile parameter and will use the SSFS method.

Thanks

Hello ashish,

The problem is solved!

I followed the advice of ashish vikas and I read the note 1921560 (<sid> adm environment variable is not read When starting SAP)

In fact there were no variables loaded on the regedit location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\<SID>\Environment.

In the note 1921560, it is mentioned that the user SAPService<SID> (SAPServiceORA) must be added to the Administrators group of the server, and so I added the SAPServiceORA to the Windows Administrators group and then I logged as user <sid>adm and I tried via SAPMMC start the system (but it returned to give the error in the same phase) but after this I already see that environment variables had been loaded in regedit:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\<SID>\Environment

After, I logged on server with the user that I used to run the system copy (with SWPM tool) and I returned to run the SWPM tool! But again it show me the same error on the same stage!

So, I checked again the log files (dev_w0) and I realized that now the problem it is related to other cause! Now the problem was related to the Oracle Listener service that was stopped! I started it manually in services (services.msc).

I ran again the SWPM tool and now finally the error in phase Start Instance was overcome!

So, many thanks to you all that tried to help me!

Kind regards,

samid raif

Hi,

Can you set dbms/type = ora in the default profile. Please also check the env variables of SID adm.

What is the output of R3trans-d. is the database up and running.

can you manually start the system.

Try the below steps.

Shut down SAP processes again .

Re-initiated the .profile and environment variables

If required you can restart the windows to clean memory segment.

Restart the application manually.

Then go with system copy resume.

Thanks
