This is necessary for I can do the upgrade our SQL Server from 2000 to 2005 and next I will do the upgrade SAP system from BW 3.1 Content to SAP BW 7.02 (EHP2). But first of all I need to update the SPAM, but I´m facing the following error:

Hello raif,

You posted this:

- In TP system log:

ERROR: No connect due to DbSl Load Lib Failure

ERROR: environment variable dbms_type is not set.

ERROR: Connect to BWP failed (20131108212757)

Have you check the environment variables in regedit!? Sometimes you can see them in Operation System properties in MS Windows environment variables settings but in fact when you start a SAP system, the system will read first this environment variables in regedit through the SAPService<SID> user! So maybe that´s the problem here!

Try this... go to the following path in regedit and check if you see any environment variable set:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/SAP/<SID>

If not see them there, you need to recreate them like you exactly see in the operation system environment variables settings!! After that, reboot your server and try again the SPAM importing!

Please, also read the following notes:

128126  - Database connect for external tools

31559  - NT: Setting environment variables for R/3 kernel

1921560 - <sid>adm environment variable is not read when SAP  starting

Hello João Dimas,

Wow... that´s it!!
It´s solved!
I followed what you recommended. In fact I didn´t had any environment variable in that location, in regedit!! Therefore, I created them and now everything is ok, I can continue with SPAM importation without problems!

So, thank you very much for your awesome tip! And I also thank to all you that tried to help me!

Hi

1.  Have you updated the latest kernel & DBSL patch?

2. In your Transport Domain controller client 000 add the parameters "system_pf= \\<localhost>\sapmnt\<SID>\sys\profile\default.pfl

3. Kindly refer the SAP Note 734034  - Native OLEDB provider SQLNCLI

Hello Aidan and Sriram,

Yes, I performed a kernel update before the error (from level 390 to the latest one the level 427 - Kernel version 640), I don´t know if this is related with that or not... the system starts well without problems, so I concluded that everything is fine...!

... any tip?

Kind regards,

samid raif

Hi Samid

What about point number 2 & 3 ?

2. In your Transport Domain controller client 000 add the parameters "system_pf= \\<localhost>\sapmnt\<SID>\sys\profile\default.pfl

3. Kindly refer the SAP Note 734034  - Native OLEDB provider SQLNCLI

Hi,

For the kernel i was able to find kernel 414(database dependent and independent) and then dw patch of 429 but dint find any 427 patch in the kernel for 640.

Check what patch level you have for R3trans ,Tp and dbsl. And try the latest that you can find.

Thanks

Hello Sriram,

I did those two recomendations... but it doesn´t solved the error in SPAM update 😞

Any tips?

Hello Rishi,

I downloaded the latest kernel patch as you recommended, now my system runs with the 429 patch level the DBSL patch level is 405! But unfortunatelly the SPAM update still show me the same error!

I have one question regarding one thing that is for me very strange! The Kernel directory where I updated the SAP Kernel files is in C:\usr\sap\BWP\SYS\exe\run but the DIR_CT_RUN in transaction AL11 has this value -->  C:\usr\sap\BWP\SYS\exe\NUC\NTAMD64

But I don´t have in the server that path, it doesn´t exist --> C:\usr\sap\BWP\SYS\exe\NUC\NTAMD64

The DIR_EXECUTABLE has the value --> C:\usr\sap\BWP\SYS\exe\run

It was in this path that I applied the Kernel files that I updated to the latest patch level.

Can you tell me if this the problem... this is normal!?

kind regards

Hi,

If <DIR_CT_RUN> above is the value of DIR_CT_RUN profile parameter.

If this directory is not present or empty, use <DIR_EXECUTABLE> instead.

Usually the Default location is /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/exe/[uc/NUC]/<platform>.

But usually files should be copied in dir /sapmnt/SID/exe

This note will explain you that this is not the issue.

664679 - Installing 6.40 kernel in SAP WEB AS 6.10/6.20

Hi,

Note regarding the issue tp is failing to connect due to lack of some
important db related environment variable. So hence in order to rectify
the error kindly check oss note:

128126     Database connect for external tools
and set the environment variable written there and try again .

Regarding the error
"connect failed due to DbSL load lib failure"

Did you update your kernel and/or tp/R3trans?

Regards,

Aidan
