Managing Returns from Storage Type 914 back the warehouse

We are currently mapping out processes for implementing WM in our Raw Material warehouse house and looking for a little insight for how others have managed the following processes:

  1. Once we have picked an order and confirmed it, it sits in ST 914 until being backflushed, What should the process be IF they open a box to one of the components and find they are damaged and need more ? we are NOT serialized or batch managed .
  2. Same scenario as above and now the order gets cancelled ? What transactions do you use to move it back to the WM BIN ? LT10, LT01 ?? or is there something more involved.

Thanks ...

Hi Brett,

for 2)

if you picked to a TR (to a production order) with a MIGO posting before e.g. by BWLVS=261, you need a MIGO 262 to cancel MM stock to production order assignment.

This 262 movement will create an additional TR for putaway. Now you can create a TO for this inbound TR and use it to store.

for 1)

again you need to revert the cost assignment in MM to production order with 262 like 1).

A) But now you can use the inbound TO to put the stock on ST 999 and LI21 to remove it (as with 711/712)
B) alternative: you create a MIGO posting with 551 and use the stock on 914 in TO creation to remove the stock to a cost center or whatever in CO/FI.

Hi Brett,

For the first scenario, just sort it out physically. You dont need to make a movement in system to get the damaged items to warehouse stock and make another movement to issue component to Production Order. Instead, take out the good quality items from storage and place the damaged items to Quality.

Only one system movement - Please make unrestricted to Quality movement (movement type 322) to post that stock in QI stock which should trigger a Posting Change Notice.

For the 2nd scenario,yes - LT01 or LT10.

Thanks

You could have 3 different scenarios:

  • 1. TR is created without TO --> technical closure of production order close automatically TR. No return activities must be performed.
  • 2. TR and TO are created. TO is to be confirmed --> technical closure of production order does not close automatically TO. But TO quantity can be automatically used by other production order. In case of TO cancellation must be performed using LT15.
  • 3. TR and TO are created. TO is just confirmed --> technical closure of production order does not close takes effect on TO confirmed. But TO quantity can be automatically used by other production order. In case of you want return back to warehouse, you have to use LT10/LT01
