Automatic Batch Determination in Pharma Industry

Hello Gurus,

Please help me understand the configuration of Automatic batch determination in Pharma industry. The client wants to sort the batches according to Expiration date and FIFO method. Is this allowed in SAP standard or any enhancements required?

Hi Ankit,

Batches are created in a serial order. So earlier batches will have early expiry date and later batches will have expiry date later. According to this logic batches are always sorted based on Expiration date.

So this is available in standard SAP. No need of enhancement required.

In our case, client wants to enter the batch manually with external numbers. So in this case how the batches will be sorted based on expiry date,, as there is no internally generated batch numbers.

1. Use a Batch startegy like SD06

2. Sort rule       S001                 FIFO Sort rule

  Characteristic                    Description                    

LOBM_HSDAT                   Date when Batch Was Produced

LOBM_MENGE                  Batch Determination Sort. Qty

Try to include the expiry field.
