extract this with sidadm user. also give FULL PATH for .SAR file

SAPCAR.EXE -xvf <FULL PATH>SAPEXE_196-10005992.SAR

Also it depends where are you extracting it. If you are doing this in exe directory, please change the existing SAPCAR file to say SAPCAR1.exe and then try again.

Or extract this in any separate directory.

Hi,

There are different reason that you are not able to uncar it.

Have you downloaded correct kernel.

Please find the size of the file is correct as shown on the website.

The directory where you are trying to uncar has full writes.

Check that the file is not corrupt.

Another thing why are you trying to upgrade to 7.01 196 as it is out of maintenance.

You should go to 720 kernel.

Note 1636252 - Installing a 7.20 kernel in SAP Web AS 7.00/7.01/7.10/7.11
Note 1866499 - 7.20_EXT / 7.21_EXT Kernel - Only 64-bit support
Note 1713986 - Installation of kernel 721 (EXT)

Thanks Rishi for the suggestion. i have downloaded media thrice..but still it is iving same error. Though I have changed previous sapcar to sapcar1. I think I need to move to 720 only.

If it is X64 then you can try and download the sapcar and see if the current issue fixes.

SAPCAR_2-10009101.EXE

Change the name of the file to SAPCAR.exe

Once you get the file try to place in folder

start command promt

cd foldername

dir

should see the SAPCAR file and kernel file.

then type SAPCAR.exe -xvf kernel file name and see how it goes.

Hope you are downloading the file using Download manager as some times file get corrupt if you download directly from IE.

Thanks

Hi Sharma,

Try this

C:\ <Create Empty Folder>>sapcar2.exe  -xvf <Full Path> SAPEXE_196-10005992\*.SAR

Thanks

Hello

Use the SAPCAR file which is present in the kernel location of the SAP system.

You may rename the file SAPCAR to WSAPCAR and then uncar the file.

Hi,

If your file is downloaded properly then check the permissions also on this file. If in unix try changing permission to chmod 775 or 777 to this file and then try to uncar.

Thanks,

Hi,

Two things need to be considered.

1. SAPCAR which you are using...

2. Check the SAR file size and compare it with SMP.

Generally the SAPCAR is perfect, then the downloaded file should not be corrupted ...by size or copy you made.

Also try with new SAPCAR.

Hi Vidushi,

Have you uncared the files(SAPEXE_196-10005992.SAR) using sapcar.

Therse should be two of them:-

1. os dependent

2. os independent
