Hi,

Kernel is one need to be considered, If your ECC landscape ie, DEV, QA and PRD are in sysnc with same version and only Pre-Prd is diffrent then the development happened in Dev to Prd will differ.

Hence when we plan for refresh, the data miss match may happen due to the additonal features or fuctionality which was thr in PRD may not reflect due to version compatibility.

Rest all process are same...ABAP DB refresh, Java file system refresh by export & then import.

Prabhakar.

Hello

What I understood from you is:

PRD = EHP6

Pre-Prd = EHP5

I haven't seen a set up like this before.

If you do a system refresh using a database backup and restore.

Then after the restore of the database the Pre-Prd system will be on EHP6 level.

You will need to make sure that the Kernel is same as PRD system

Hi Rengan,

Recently We have upgraded our landscape ( Dev,QA&Prd) to EhP6.We kept Pre-Prd in EhP5 for testing and business purposes.

So if you refresh the pre-production system with a production backup then all the systems will be on the same level. Also mind the kernel upgrade.

Hi,

It's always better to update the kernel version in your Pre-Prd(EhP5) to PRD system before starting the system copy activity. Steps for System Copy are same for all the SAP Versions.

My concern is kernel update means can I have same Kernel patch has to be deployed in both PRD and Pre-Prd?

Hi,

What is the kernel version of EHP5 and EHP6 system.

I don't think there is any other specific system copy steps for EHPs ABAP.

Thanks
