Hello,
We are running MDM 7.1 on Windows . The memory usage of MDS is always increasing , without freeing . This leads us to regularly stop start MDM each 2 days) to avoid MDM freeze when all the memory is used . Is there any tool to monitor MDM memory usage (who is using it within MDM ?, how many)? How can we see the breakdown of the memory usage ? Is there any tool to monitor MDM activity (user activity ? session activity ?) to try doing correlations ? Which tool could help to investigate ?
Thks for your help & rgds,
Hi Isabelle,
Do you have end users connecting to MDM via a Portal? Sometimes Portal applications connect to the MDM server and then do not properly release the connection when the Portal process is complete.
The number of connections then increases gradually over time until eventually MDM memory is excessively utilised.
You can check the number of connections through the MDM console. You can log on to the MDM Repository in the console, and you should find "connections" as an option in the admin area of the repository.
Hope this helps.

Hi Isabelle,
What is the MDS service pack level and since how long are you witnessing this deterioration in performance.
Thanks,
Ravi

Hi Isabelle,
Please check if number of concurrent users are not too high, also if you too many Data Manager or other thick clients open on a LAN it would cause MDS to slow down significantly.
Factors like Data modeling,Network,Languages,Keys,Tracking,Number of concurrent users,MDS.ini settings etc effect performance in a big way.
Please visit following links for monitoring MDS performance -
Thanks,
Ravi
