Hello

You can check the guide provided by Graham.

Recently there was a discussion about Java system copy. The Java system copy can now be done with help of backup and restore option and there is no need for an export and import.

Previous releases of netweaver required an export of import for the Java.

When performing a system copy using a database-specific method, it is no longer required to perform an export of the source system.

Hello Graham

I still haven't tried that to be 100% sure.

There used to application data for a J2EE stack at the FS level which is not part of the database backup.

I can only be sure once I've done it.

Hello Vahini,

You can choose any method: backup/restore, deatach/attach or export/import.

Check note 151603 for further information.

Hi,

As it's an AS Java, don't we need to export/import so that the objects at the OS are also copied?

Thanks,

Graham

Hi,

After the database copy you must perform the post steps, as mentioned in the note and in the installation guides.

Thanks all for quick  and very informative replies:

My Plan is to do the following, please correct me if i am wrong in any way:

1. Install MS SQL Server 2008 Native client on Database server
2. Install MS SQL Server 2008 Database on Database server
3. Create Directories <SID>data1, <SID>data2, <SID>data3, <SID>log1...
4. Restore the Database from Management Studio
5. Install the SCS, Database and CI on the target
6. Follow-up procedure on MS SQL Server

I read all the documents suggested by all, but still confused wheather to go for AS JAVA export/import or backup/restore.

As per note  1738258 , It says no longer required to take the export of the source, but It didn't mentioned any procedure how to implement system copy of AS JAVA using backup/restore..

Any help on how to do System copy of AS JAVA 7.3 using backup/restore method.
