Admin accounts and password expiration

Hi,

we have a new setup ECC EHP5.

The consultant has created two dialog user for doing the installation and the same accounts are used on background jobs as well (RFC connections, backup jobs, SSO with portal etc etc).

Our IT policy requires us to change the password for end user account every 2 months but for SAP we are unable to do so. Reason being that if we setup the password expiration on default profile it is applied to all dialog users which also include the 2 admin accounts.

Doing so will cause the password to expire for the admin accounts and the background jobs will fail.

Is there anyway to implement the ploicy and exclude them from the password expiration ? perhaps convert them into a system account or somthing ?

any help would be higly appreciated.

regards

ZUF.

Hi Zaid,

Unfortunately it is NOTpossible to exclude some users from password rules, unless you change

user type. System user and Service user are not affected by password rules.

Thanks,

Sunny

Hello,

Please review note 622464.

You may consider to change the user type.

Thanks.

Hello,

It is always advised to schedule background jobs with users whose user type should be system or communication so that password policy should not be applicable for those users. Please change user type for those users from which you have scheduled background jobs or schedule jobs with different user.

Thanks,

Sunny

Hi,

For SSO you can keep the user as service user in Su01 as that is also excluded from the list.

Thanks
