Hi,

we have SAP JAVA systems based on Nw 7.01 and NW 7.1

Can i use SUM instead of JSPM to update SCA files, JAVA components etc.

I am aware that JSPM is available in this version, but since SUM is the future for SAP, i want to  use this .

Yes, you can use SUM to apply Java support packages.  You can do single support packages directly, or an entire stack.  The easiest way is to just create a maintenance transaction in Solution Manager for the stack you want, then download the patches and stack file to the same directory, and then start SUM and select that stack file.

Hello

Please read this SAP note

Note 1589311 - Replacements of outdated tools via SL Toolset

SUM is now the tool for almost all the maintenance activities including patching.

Hi Balaji,

General practice is that if you go any upgrades recommended to use SUM where as JSPM can be used for support packs/patch upgrades.

SUM is basically to use upgrades like 7.1 to 7.3 , any EHP upgrades etc...where as small patch upgrades recommended to use JSPM.

Thanks
