Former Member

Hello,

I have a NAS with 7 TB and I will make the SAPMaxDB backups on this mapped drive (folders).

The backup aborted with following message in the SAPMaxDB database studio (please see Bild1)

The defnition in the SAPMaxDB database studio is in Bild2.

The database is on Windows2008 and the NAS is a QNEP.

Thanks for your input and help.

Best regards,

Richard

Hi

Try giving a network path address in the maxdb backup like below

\\ipaddress\folder\filename    and try.

If the above is ot working then you have to attach the storage to

a PC in the same domain and try.

It clearly seams like a permission or authentication issue

Hi Suresh Daniel,

I try with your input \\ipadress\folder\filename ..... and now I get a message "user or pwd. is unknow"

Is it  the db-backup user equal "control" or an another db user?

Thank you for your help.

Richard

Hi Richard,

The error may be misleading,  the problem is not due to the db user.

The problem is due to windows user authentication issue.

I dont know how your storage is connected.

your maxdb machine's  username and password has to be authenticated

by the storage or the machine in which it is attached.

suresh daniel.

Hi Richard,

I think you cannot take a backup like the method you are trying now.

The only possibility is if  your network storage can authenticate with windows domain

you will be able to backup.

Hello,

1) check if the MaxDB user has enough permissions (full control) to access directory/folder

2) check if the folder is accessible from operating system level.
