SUM Error During Java SP update in Netweaver 7.3

Former Member

Hello Team,

I am trying to update java support pack to netweaver 7.3 java system using SUM(SUM version - sp08).

But I am getting error in initial phase - confirm Target in step - Analyse common checks result.

Attaching the error screenshot here.

It says - SAP JVM 6.1 which is currently installed in system is not supported.SAP JVM 4.1 must be installed.

I do not want to degrade to 4.1 as 6.1 is latest version.

Can anyone help me to understand why this error is occuring and how can it be resolved?

Thanks,
Ari

Check Note :1831282

We are doing  upgrade using SUM 1.0 SP06 patch 5, we have faced couple of major problems during this upgrade.

There is major bug in the tool hence please don’t use SUM 1.0 SP06.

If you want to do any upgrades please wait for the next higher patch level is available on SMP or use SUM 1.0 SP5

SAP has released note 1831282 on SUM 1.0 SP06.

Hi

SUM comes with it's own JVM

<DRIVE>:\usr\sap\<SAPSID>\SUM

/usr/sap/<SAPSID>\SUM

Thus you just need to change the JAVA_HOME environment variable before launching the SUM

Hello Yves,

The SAPJVM version in system is : 6.1.046.

Current value for Env variable JAVA_HOME - is path to sapjvm folder.

The jvm version used in SUM is 6.1.037 (SUM/jvm/jre)

Thanks,

Ari

Hello,

I've checked these notes but did not find any useful information.

1790828 - Central Note - Software Update Manager 1.0 SP08 [lmt_004]

1888623  - SUM tool is not able to identify the SAP JVM installed

I did never get that error.

Can you post the error detail from SUM log file...

Is the Java_home variable that you are reviewing setup for your ID or the <SID>adm ID that is typically required to start the SUM batch file?

Hello Billy,

JAVA_HOME is set for sidadm and I am using sidadm to execute SUM.

Thanks,

Hi,

Have you check the PAM that java 6.1 is supported with current system version. What is the sytem version.

I dont think that jvm 6.1 is currently supported with current version and that is the reason that sum tool is complaining.

Thanks

I believe there will be vendor JRE installed on the system.

Try to set JAVA_HOME temporarily to this and restart SUM

Check if that helps.
