Hello,
I'm planning to upgrade my SAP Solution Manager 7.01 to 7.1.
I got the guides from SAP Market Place, but a question was not answered for me.
How does the upgrade work? Should i run the upgrade process to SolMan in the same Aix box? Should I install a new instance with 7.1 and migrate the whole data from 7.01?
Could you clarify me?
Thanks so much,
Denis
Hi Denis,
You can run the upgrade process in the same box using SUM, which basically creates a shadow instance and applies the upgrade. Later it upgrades the actual instance, You have to take care of downtime.
Other way, you can copy the existing solman 7.01 and upgrade it. once you find everything goes well in test box, You can carry out the upgrade in original system.

Hi Denis,
Upgrade the Solman using SUM, please check the below link for details
https://websmp207.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000783082011E#q1
Please check the below guide for scenarion and impact after 7.1 upgrade

What are the scenario configured in the existing solman system ? if the solman system not having much usage, better go for fresh installation, if solman have ITSM, ChaRM ...etc functionalities better go for upgrade.

Karthik

Hello Karthik,
My SolMan is only using the CCMS Monitoring Alert.
I'm intended to backup my SolMan and start the upgrade process using SUM.
Guys, thank you very much.
Denis
