Business Users as Firefighters

Hello Everybody,

First of all, thanks a lot for your help.

In my past experiences with EAM, only SAP experts were allowed to perform Firefighter activities. In my current client, a request has been raised to extend the access to Business people (of course, only business related activities).

Which do you think are the pros & cons of that approach? Honestly, I don't feel so comfortable about providing FF access to business people.

Thanks a lot and regards,

CMPT

There is benefit - just consider how many users this means and performance impact if its high usage

Charles,

Pros: Each and every activity will be logged including values.

Cons: Since each activity will be logged, there will be space constraint.

In fact you don't have any issues subject to you have enough hardware but access for business users need not be given through Firefighter as long as users are well seggregated. Its part of their day to day activities unlike Master Data maintenance.

If its really required, you can adapt the Power User concept and give them EAM.

Since these are not daily activity and are closely monitored in means of Logs .

No Harm. i would have preferred.

Charles,

I would not rule it out. It could make sense to handle extra access needed by business users for month/quarter/year-end close or annual compensation update period that way, for example. You would want to ensure that their Firefighter roles are pretty well scoped down, of course.
