Hi Experts ,

What is the difference between TMS 8.0 and TMS 9.0 ? What is freight Unit and freight unit building rule in TMS ?

TMS 8.0 AND TMS 9.0 are different versions of SAP TM system.

Freight unit is the basis of transportation planning, can be defined as the smallest unit which can be transported throughout the life cycle of TM cycle.

Freight unit buliding rule(fubr): include some strategies to create a fright unit.

FUBR strategies

1-consolidate per item.

2-consolidate as much as possible

3-consolidae per request

There are huge differences in the releases - with regards to new capabilities being offered > especially as TM 9.0 is 2 releases after TM 8.0.

Best source to get an overview is the release note documentation, first for TM 8.1 (next release after TM 8.0)

A set of goods that are transported together across the entire transportation chain. A freight unit can include transportation constraints for transportation planning.

The freight unit is used to merge items in the following business documents that are to be transported together:

• Forwarding order
• Order-based transportation requirement
• Delivery-based transportation requirement

The freight unit is the smallest unit that can be transported. The business document data and the freight unit building rules form the basis for building freight units.
