Non-inventory management Rack Jobbers POS integration

Former Member

For a Rack Jobber vendor where we do not manage the stock.

What are the pros and cons for using Merchandise Categories or value-only articles to scan or sell the goods ?

Kind regards,

Brian

Hi Brian,

It is always recommended that you use a separate merchandise category for various articles which do not belong to your company and are served by rack jobber vendors. Within this merchandise category, you can create value-only articles (Article type: WERT) with value update (to know the sales amount of those article). Since you are not concerned about their inventory management, you do not want quantity information from POS.

You can collect the sales data from POS with only sales value of article and periodically settle the amount. At the time of settlement, you analyze the total sales of that value-only article, deduct your commission (using a condition type techniques) and pay the rest of the amount to vendor.

The disadvantage of this value only article is you do not have much detailed information on the sales pattern of these articles which are being sold by a rack jobber vendor, which actually we should not concern much as they are not our articles.

I hope this answers your question. Let us know if you need more information.

Regards,
Amit
