stack.xml for SP08 generate "...not contain Add-On Install" (SAINT)

To make the upgrade Solution Manager to SP08 I have done the following:

1. I downloaded the stack for SAP Technology Components" -> SAP SOLUTION MANAGER" -> SAP SOLUTION MANAGER 7.1 -> Support Package Stack Download

2. It has been three steps (see add-on screenshot) generate stack.xml and kept it in the same folder where then downloaded all packages (see stack.xml in attach)

3. I downloaded all (after approving) the packages in a basket attached.

4. in SAINT pressed a button "Stack XML-file" - and got the following message "The loaded stack configuration does not contain Add-On Install./Upgrades   Message no. TN608"

Why is there such a problem?
What is the way out of the situation is possible (load SP08 via using stack.xml)?

Thanks for your consultation

Hi Michael,

SAINT is used for add-on install & upgrade. So if there is no add-on upgrade/install , you cannot use SAINT.

Try using SUM tool or SPAM if you are updating only SPs. By the way SAP recommend the use of SUM tool for upgrade/ehp/patching.

Thanks for the advice.

Could you clarify in more detail (perhaps with links to notes or manual) how to use SUM (and most importantly - where to find it)?

Why did I ask - because in the pack includes not only the SAP packages (*. Sar) but packs of JAVA

Hi,

As you are solution manager 7.1 you can use the SPAM and JSPM to update abap and JAVA patches.

Java patches are updated by JSPM and ABAP patches are done by SPAM.

If you want both the step to go together use SUM tool using STACK file.

This is how to use SUM tool.

http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-25113

You can find the sap guide on SPM.

Hi,

First of all check that that you have downloaded the correct Sum tools depending on the OS.

Second thing if yes its correct.

You have uncar it with SIDadm.

Third thing if all the port are ok.

Try to use on different port using the below command.

STARTUP -srvarg=/DSUService/abaptoolport=14240

            -srvarg=/DSUService/javatoolport=16240

            httpport=14239 guiport=14241

If nothing works please remove the current tool and uncar it again.

Thanks
