what is difference between dummy profit center and classical profit center and profit center distribution ( profit center to profit center)

There may be several reason for PC to PC value transfer. Suppose you have one centralised Sales deptt (SD cost center) and your are selling the products through this Cost center of all your Profit centers (may be called Geographical area/or cities/plants howsoever you define it. etc.) not what option is left with you have to see true profitability of all the profit centers if the cost related to this cost center is not distributed to different profit centers on certain basis.

Another may be you provided wrong profit center at the time of making entry, the only option to correct is transfer it from one PC to other PC. However in this you can use Re-post the document from FI if you are on New GL.

Like wise many reasons may press you to go for it.

As far as dummy profit center is concerned, It is used by the system to fill up Profit center field by default if you miss to give the data there. Probably it was required only with Classic GL but not sure.

You don't post entries in dummy profit center for any purpose but in normal profit center you post entries with an intention to see P& L on it.
