Need to upgrade from 10.2.0.2 to 11.2.0.3

Dear All,

I want to upgrade our current oracle database (10.2.0.2) to latest (11.2.0.2/3).

I read in upgrade document that first we need to upgrade the DB from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.4 or 10.2.0.5 and applying patches through MOPatch supports from Opatch release 10.2.0.4. Now I want to know the following things:

1) Where to download the 10.2.0.5 patches (I went to the path: https://service.sap.com/swdc > Databases and Database Patches> Oracle> Oracle 10.2 Software (64 bit)> Installation> HP-UX> ORACLE Database> 51040681_2 ORACLE RDBMS Patch 10.2.0.5 HP-UX IA64 64bit)

Is the above file is enough for applying from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.5

2) Is this possible to apply the patches from 10.2.0.2 to 10.2.0.5 through MOPatch (our Opatch release is:10.2.0.2)?

If not, please provide me the ready-reference documents on applying patches through Opatch.

Thanks and Regards

KLNR

Hello

You cannot upgrade to 10.2.0.5 using OPatch or MOpatch like suggested above.

You need to follow this.

You need to install the 10.2.0.5 Oracle server software using the RUNINSTALLER and then upgrade the database using DBUA.

Once the database has been patched to 10.2.0.5 you need to download the 11G software and install it to a new file system called /oralce/SID/11203

Then you upgrade the database from 10G to 11G using DBUA

Follow this path for the installation media for 10.2.0.5

http://service.sap.com/swdc

Database and Database Patches (from other vendors) - Oracle - Oracle 10.2 Software (64-bit) - Installation - HP-UX - ORACLE Database

Also you need to download the latest SBP (Bundle Patches) for 10G and apply it using MOpatch

Follow this path for the installation media for 11.2.0.3

http://service.sap.com/swdc

http://service.sap.com/swdcDatabase and Database Patches (from other vendors) - Oracle - Oracle 11.2 Software (64-bit) - Installation - HP-UX - ORACLE Database

Once the DB has been upgraded to 11G you need to download the latest SBP (Bundle Patches) for 10G and apply it using MOpatch

Hi K,

Yes, you have the correct place to download the 10.2.0.5 patch,

Use Opatch to apply 0.5 patch and then upgrade your database to 11.2..0.1.X and again use Opatch to apply 11.2.0.2 or 11.2.0.3

For detailled information about OPatch see SAP note 839182 and 1631931 Oracle Database Patches for 11.2.0.3 for SAP (all about bundle patches)
