We are planning for SRM implementation and need more clarity on having only ABAP (or) ABAP+JAVA (or) ABAP & JAVA dual stack; with any of the below available releases:
- SRM 7.0
- SRM 7.0 EhnP1 (or) EhnP2 (or) EhnP3
Is JAVA mandatory for SRM 7.0 and others ?
Can we use the existing portal ?
I have referred installation guides that provides all the options, but not able to take a decision on this. Please help.
Regards,
Sri
You don't require Java Stack for SRM 701 onward for all core functionality. Now LAC also runs on ABAP Stack.
For you may decide to use Portal Independent Framework, which don't require enterprise portal also. But you may loose some features like UI Harmonization, Single Sign on etc., and business will need to have different URL for SRM, Supplier etc., All business functionality are supported without Java Stack if you are from SRM 701.
If you decide to have enterprise portal as your presentation layer- it runs on Java Netweaver Stack.
If you decide to have SRM-MDM Catalogue - it runs on Java Netweaver Stack.
