Hey experts,

we have to install NetWeaver 7.31 EHP1 on different customer server.

It is an urgent task, any suggestion would be appreciated.

On the first server we have to install NetWeaver with sap add ons (SAP MII, SAP ME, MEINT) without database.

On the second server we have to install only mssql database.

below you see the destination architecture from both server

How can we install server with connecting between NetWeaver and mssql database on different server?

Thanks,

Markus

Hi,

Please follow distributed installation with the DB on one server and CI on the another.

1) Run sapinst for global host preparation

2) Install DB

3) Install CI.

Please check more for the installation guide.

Please find the below note.

Note 1906392 - SAP ME 6.1 SP03 Patch 2 Release Information Note

Note 1901036 - MII 14.0 SP03

Hey Rishi Abrol,

i have done the following steps from installation guide "SAP Systems Based on the Application Server Java of SAP NetWeaver 7.3 including EHP1 on Windows: MS SQL Server" on page 57

But i can't finish step 5. It will break with following error

the installer can not find the destination (distributed) system.

thanks!

Check the logs created by sapinst

It looks like connection to the database server doesn't work.

Hi,

Where are you getting the above screen i think on the CI.

Have you installed the MS SQL database software on the DB host?

Have you installed the MS SQL client on the CI?

Once these two steps are run then run sapinst to install the central service.

So you need to follow the sequence as the page you showed.

Thanks

Hey Rishi,

at the first step we installed the database mssql on the database server.

at the second step we installed MS SQL Server Native Access Client (SNAC) software on the primary application server.

at the third step we run SAPinst (central services instance) on the primary application server.

at the fourth step we run the SAPinst for the database instance on the database server, then we get the following error

on this database server we have installed NetWeaver instance with Oracle Database and now we have mssql database installed for test.

Do we need a new server with only mssql database for this step?

Hi Marcus

There are various options here for the different databases .  Please choose the option for the correct DB type, MS SQL in your case.  You need a to select a different path on the menu.

What is the SID you are giving for the MSSQL server ?

What is the SID of the existing Oracle and SAP system ?

Hi,

Is the SID of the Oracle and MSsql same ?

If yes that is the reason you have this issue.

You need to have different SID

Thanks

Thanks to all experts!

The solution is to set the correct Profile Directory in step 4 (Distributed Systems, Define Parameters) to primary application server.

Hi Markus,

This is a standard option called a 'Distributed System' .  Simply run the options in order, the first on the primary application server and the second on the DB server.  The last part will be back on the central application server.

If you start up the installation software, then you can look down the installation options to take a looks.

Hope this helps,

Graham

Hello

You need to follow the installation for the distributed set up.

I am sure that the installation guide will have the information for a distributed installation.
