Hi All,
A simple question.
Is BusinessObjects Mobile a separate install from the actual BusinessObjects BI Platform (Edge)?
Thanks and best regards,
Ron
Hi Ron,
Business objects 3.X editions ( enterprise and edge) do not have Business objects mobile integrated in them, as in BI 4.X versions available.
So you will have to run a seperate installation to install and use mobile with your existing edge version.
The dowload should be available under service.sap.com
Also, as its a Business objects 3.1 machines, do check compatibility guide available at help.sap.com regarding several feature availibility for different OS ( iOS, Android, Windows , Blackberry)

Hi Ron,
In BI 4.0 the mobile is integrated with the server.
hence, no seperate installation is necessary.
the above case applies, if you have BI 4.0 system on a windows server.
if the BI 4.0 servers ar on linux or solaris you will have to install BI 4.0 mobile setup ( i.e choose the custom option while installation of BI 4.0 ) on a windows machine, as mobile is suported for windows only. Applies only if you have BI 4.0 SP2/ SP4
If you have SP5 and above for BI 4.0, then no need to do a seperate installation of mobile on windows

Hi Ron,
you can use mobile.
as you mentioned you have BI 4.0 SP5 on linux
go to tomcat directory/webapps
search for MobileBIService
if this folder is present, mobile is deployed on your server.
also, under the bobje installation directory, search for Mobile14 folder as well to confirm that mobile is installed.
run this url from any client machine
http://servername:port/MobileBIService/MessageHandlerServlet?message=GetVersion
If you get a xml response with a version number, mobilebiservice war file is running fine

Hi Ron,
BusinessObjects Mobile - you install this on your mobile or tablet (IOS/Android)
BusinessObjects BI Platform(Edge) - You install this on a server
So,it's a separate install.
