SAP Fiori on SMP2.3

Former Member

Dear,

I have another question regarding Fiori applications.

One of our customers is interested in implementing some Fiori applications.

They have a current architecture using SUP that has been validated.

Connecting directly with gateway is not allowed due to security reasons by there IT department.

On the roadmap it was mentioned that in a next release SMP3.0 would be supported but is

it possible to use these apps in combination with SMP 2.3?

(offline is not a requirement)

And if so do you have any information on how we can achieve this?

(or will there be customer specific development required)

Thanks!

Hi Tim,

Fiori apps are web apps and SMP is not required.

Customers need proxy server in DMZ for external access. I'm sure customers have proxy server already.

What kind of security issue there? It is same manner with any other external web access.

Customers have external web access already in other application. Please follow their security policy. If external web access is not allowed, you need to work a lot of things.

Hello Masa,

Thank you for your feedback.

However they are very sceptic regarding additional tools.

They want a central platform to manage everything.

So connecting to gateway is not an option for them.

Are you able to provide alternatives using SMP 2.3?

Thanks!

Hi Tim,

Could you share why external web access is not an option?

There are go live customers who are using both Fiori web apps and native mobile apps on SMP.

Which Fiori apps is your customer going to implement? If external web access is not allowed, SAP has over 50 native mobile apps with SMP.

The No.1 customer requirement was changing UI easily on their own. It was not easy in the past released native apps as standard package. Fiori apps are HTML5 web apps and all source codes are available to change without any build or compile.

You can build HWC mobile apps in customer project basis but it cost for develop. So many customers went live with Fiori web app.

Masa
