Hi Guru's,

I am performing the SLD configuration for the first time. we have Solution Manager 7.1 and SAP Netweaver PI 7.1 servers.

Where SLD has been configured locally. Now want to centralise the SLD with Solution Manger 7.1(BASIC and Preparation Steps not yet completed in Solution Manager).

Can you please steps to perform SLD Configuration.

I have already checked http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-8042     but got confused due to multiple links.

Thanks,

Sandeep Singh

Hi Sandeep,

Just for better understanding, lets say PI system name is PIT which is local SLD and Solman system name is SOL which you want to make central SLD, Instance # 24 for SOL, Solman system hostname is solman.

Steps:

On PIT ABAP side login, enter tcode RZ70, provide hontname solman in the host filed and in the gateway field, enter sapgw24 (instance#).  On the toolbar, click on Activate then Execute button.  If this is PI system, then you need to enter tcode SLDAPICUST and configure.

If this is a dual stack system, you need to login in NWA/VA on the PIT (local SLD side), go into SLD Data Supplier, provide ifnormation of Solman and push the data.

Login into Solman thru browser (http://solman:52400/sld), provide username and password, go into Technical System, select AS ABAP, to make sure the above system appear in the Tecnical systems, do the same for AS Java and make sure all the Java system appears in Technical system.

Thanks

Adil

Hello,

SLD plays a major role for PI system. So, it is always recommended to have a local SLD for PI system. You can create a SLD Bridge between PI-Local SLD and Solution manager SLD so that PI will update data in solman local SLD. You should create a bi-directional data transfer between solman SLD and PI SLD so that both SLD should have information about all the business systems in the landscape.

You can refer to below link:

Hello,

You should not create any single point of failure while designing SLD for the landscape because if Central SLD system is down then it can impact your landscape.

So, it it better to have local SLD in PI and create a bi-directional bridge with PI-local sld and solman-central sld.

Thanks,

Sunny

Recommendations for SLD Landscapes

The general recommendation is to set up one (central) SLD for each productive PI landscape.

As availability of the SLD is critical for productive usage of PI, in a federated PI landscape you can set up additional (local) SLDs for each local PI instance.

In addition to that – depending on the individual requirements of your business – you can set up a separate SLD for each non-productive landscape like development or test landscape, for example.

In order to come to a final decision of your SLD landscape design, you need to trade the advantages of one single central SLD (low hardware requirements and low operation costs) off against the needs of high availability of SLD data.
