JAVA_HOME variable needed?

Hello all,

I didn't find clear answer on question:

Is variable JAVA_HOME needed in pure abap systems (mean without java stuck)?

From my point of view NOT but for example sapinst needs java.

Hello,

You generally don't need this parameter in ABAP based system but if you need to run sapinst or other tools that need JAVA environment in that case, you will need this parameter.

Hello

Pure ABAP stacks don't need this parameter. So the answer is NO.

But tools like SAPINST, Oracle installer need JRE installed which is identified using this parameter.
