Alert mechanism when SAP PI application is down

Hi Experts,

We need a mechanism which will send mails when PI application is down. There is a mechanism in our landscape which triggers a mail when database is down but there is no hold when there is an application is down abruptly.

We need the services which will get down when the app is down, so that we can give this to our basis and ask them to send an alert when these services are down. I am not sure whether this is a correct approach. If not please help me understand what are the possible ways to get a mail in such situations?

one way can be - your PI system can be connected to a Solution Manager system and CCMS can be configured on SolMan system, which can send emails, when PI system is down. also CCMS can be configured on PI system as well, to send emails, when specific components in PI system are not up, due to some error.
