We are in the process of implementing GATP, we were running a rule based ATP check, that generates a TAPA line item.
We noticed in one of our test sales orders the special processing indicator (SDABW) is grayed out and we are unable to populate that field. A delivery has not yet been created for this sales order.
Has anyone encountered this issue before?
Thank you, Alison
MoazzaM is right. If you check the standard configuration for item cagtegory TAPA, schedule line category CD would be assigned which is nothing but it is WITHOUT DELIVERY. If your system is configured for APO, then may be, you can check the following note:-

Hi
Is it only for one sale order or an ongoing process for every order you create for same material and other information? If you read F1 help of this field then you will see it is used in deliveries and shipments. In sale order there is no reason that this field should go grey out.

There doesn't appear to be any customized screen variant, it appears to be related to the use of the TAPA item category. If I use the same material and customers, and item category TAN is used, then the field is not grayed out. Once I update the plant for the rule based availability check and the TAPA item cat pulls in the field is no longer editable.
Thanks, Alison

By reading this link what I understood is that for TAPA you are not going to do any delivery from your system. So you don't need any shipment document and as you know this field is relevant for shipment so this field is grey out. This must be written somewhere in standard SAP coding that whenever TAPA item category is there this field will be in no use. Which schedule line category you are using with TAPA? Could you please check this and update.
This is standard behavior and you can also check below link.
