Hi Manoj,

The Integration builder is the common tool framework for design and configuration time activities.

in fact, Integration builder is an Client server framework for accessing and editing two stores of Shared collobartion knowledge:

-Integration Repository(IR): for the design and development of interface, process,Mapping object that ae used to implement Integration Scenerio.

-Integration Directory(ID): for configuring scenerios from the integartion Repository in the concreate customer landscape.

Hope u will understand the realtion between Integration bulider and ID ,IR.

Ravi Raika..

Hi,

Integration Builder: Design - Integration Repository : IR

Integration Builder: Configuration - Integration Directory : ID

Here we will create all objects in IR independently of a System landscape those will be stored in Repository and using those object will be configured in ID. while execution first ID object will be executed from ther it will refer the ID object in runtime.

It means At configuration time you set up a collaborative process for a specific system landscape. The configuration data is structured, organized, and saved in the Integration Directory in the form of configuration objects.

for example

Receiver Determination - Interface Determination --

Interface mapping will be executed in ABAP cache while execution it reffers the Message mapping , the MM will be executed in JAVA Cache.

Hi Manoj,

Integration Builder in SAP NetWeaver XI in turn provides all the necessary tools for designing and configuring the process flow. These include the Integration Process Engine. The descriptions of Intermediate Document Interfaces (IDocs), Business Application Programming Interfaces (BAPIs) or in-house functional components from PM, such as an RFC component for reading information from the GIS, can also be managed in Integration Builder. The service descriptions are also imported into Integration Builder and the corresponding routing rules and communication channels are then configured here.

Its just like a central hub to maintain information. For more please refer the link as mentioned in earlier reply.

Integration builder is nothing but a central repository where you have two part IR and ID. You can access both of them from IB.
