Sybase patches not showing after applying patch

Former Member

Hie

After applying Sybase patches 15.7.102 to sybase 15.7.012 the patch level is not changing to 15.7.102

The patches were applied according to SAPnote 160781 and 160254.

The patch-run was executed successfully only when checking the version did we realise that the version was still 15.7.102.We tried rerunning the ptach but it fails with message that the database has already been upgraded.

Assist please.

Regards

We have tried to run a downgrade procedure using sp_downgrade_esd command but its failing we're getting the error below :

1> sp_downgrade_esd EPD, esd1
2> go
Msg 2812, Level 16, State 5:
Server 'EPD', Line 1:
Stored procedure 'sp_downgrade_esd' not found. Specify owner.objectname or use
sp_help to check whether the object exists (sp_help may produce lots of
output).

What are we missing here?

I would suggest you to raise an OSS message and seek SAP support.

Did you get this sorted?

I have this same issue?

We decided to use a latest version of the software without having to patch our Sybase installation.

Hello

Check this SAP note

Note 1539124 - SYB: Database Configuration for SAP on Sybase ASE

          Release      SAP Note Number

> SYB     15.7.0.0xx   1539125

> SYB     15.7.0.1xx   1749935

I believe you need to follow the 2 SAP note to configure the Sybase database based on the present version.

After applying Sybase patches 15.7.102 to sybase 15.7.012 the patch level is not changing to 15.7.102

Not sure whether you have provided the correct version information here.

I have already checked the sapnote 1749935 which has configuration steps which you can only do after successfully patching the database and the DB is 15.7.0..012 instead of being 15.7.0.102 after applying the patch thats where the main problem is.

Hello,

Please make sure that after upgrade, you execute script syb_update_db.sql as mentioned in SAP

Note 1602547 - SYB: Current syb_update_db script versions.

Thanks,

Sunny

Hello

Are you saying that you implemented these SAP notes ?

Note 160781 - Menu item for Loan Notification

Note 160254 - ALE : Automatic Reduction of Views

For sure these are not Sybase patches.

What exactly is the issue you are facing ? Where are you checking the patch level ?

Hello

Could you provide the files used for the patching ?

These are files to be used according to the note.

File ASE157SPxx_x.SAR contains the ASE server software (xxx is a three-digit number and refers to the current ASE patch level).

File DBCLNT157SPxx_x.SAR contains the ODBC and JDBC driver.

Have you check the output file sybupd_out.txt ?
