How do I know if an alert has been raised?

Former Member

Hi experts,

I've created an alert classification, alert category and defined the fixed recipients in the ALRTCATDEF.

- Classification: XI_ALERT_CLASSIFICATION

- Category: Z_GENERAL_ADAPTER

- Recipient: pisuper

In Alert Configuration in RWB, I created an Alert Rule:

- Rule: General_Alert_Rule

- Alert Category: Z_GENERAL_ADAPTER

- Conditions: *

- Where did the error occur: No restriction

- CCMS Connection: Periodic transfer of XI alerts to CCMS of user PIRWBUSER (09.03.2007 15:46:50) scheduled Period: 01 Minute(s)

I triggered a message that encountered an error in the XI Adapter.

In Message Monitoring:

Status: System Error

Sender Service: BS_DEV1_ODS_OOTS

Receiver Party: <blank>

Receiver service: BS_DEV1_ODS_OOTS

Interface: urn:dev1:fapl:oots:OperationProcInfo MI_OperationProcInfo_Inbound_Async_OperationProcInfo

My question is:

1. I do not see an alert in my alert inbox. How do I know if an alert is raised at all?

2. When I click on "Alert Inbox" -> "Subscription", I get a message "The table does not contain any entries". Is this correct?

Please help.

Thank you.

Best Regards,

Ron

Hi,

You can see alerts in R3 by ALRTDISP transaction , with category and period.

Also it will show in you Alert inbox, in RWB.

check you correct user is added to fixed recipient list or not.

Also see the below links

When I trigger an error from my interface at runtime, I do not see any alerts displayed in ALRTDISP.

However, when I run the report RSALERTTEST, and I choose the alert category I created, I am able to see an email alert in my inbox, and I see an entry in ALRTDISP.

This leads me to think that the Adapter Engine - System Errors do not raise an alert at all. But why? I understand this has been fixed in XI3.0 SP14, and I'm on PI7.0 SPS10.

Please help.

Thanks.

Hi,

If adapters are not in list..

The error you are getting mainly happens in case of Message server not being proper.

see below

<i>If you don't receive any alert into your alertinbox but you believe that they are triggered check if the alerts were created:

- go to TCODE - ALRTCATDEF

- choose Settings - Configuration

- make sure you have the logging parameter checked

- go to TCODE - SLG1

- choose object "ALERT"

- and from here you can check if your alert was generated or not</i>

Chilla,

Please bear with me.

I agree with you and I believe there might be a problem with the connectivity between the AE and the Message Server.

Could you please guide me through how I can troubleshoot the problem so I can load the adapters into the list in RWB - Alert Configuration?

I'm not sure how I can configure the logging parameters. Can you pleaes guide me through step-by-step?

Thanks.

Ok,

I'm finally able to see the list of adapters from the dropdown.

BUT I have hit yet another problem - when I select an adapter from the dropdown, I encounter a javascript error - 'adaptername' is undefined.

Experts, any idea how to fix this problem?

Please help.

Thanks.

Hi,

I've set the "Adapter Engine/Adapter Type" to the required inbound adapter.

However, still no alerts raised.

Thanks for the tip Sreeram.

Here's what I got after creating the log:

Alert was generated in logical system

Alert is generated on the Central Alert Server

Alert category: Z_GENERAL_ADAPTER

Expiry time: 20991231 000000

Recipient from alert category: ADS_AGENT

Recipient from alert category: PIDEV

Recipient from alert category: PISUPER

Delivery by e-mail to ADS_AGENT

Delivery by e-mail to PIDEV

Delivery by e-mail to PISUPER

External ID of alert: 00008

<i>Address of recipient ADS_AGENT (INT) could not be read

Address of recipient PIDEV (INT) could not be read</i>

<b>BCS exception (DNS_SREQ) occurred</b>

Delivery 1 completed

Alert created. ID: BEA08C523167A84F9695994AA79FD2BB

The delivery says it's complete, but I don't see the alert in my inbox.

The ones in italic are warnings, and the one in bold is error.

How do I decipher them?

Thanks for the quick reply.

Can I ask:

If I want to see the alert in my SAP User Inbox, what should I choose in Other Communication Methods?

If I want to see the alert in my internet email inbox, what should I choose?

I have configured SAPConnect on client 000.

But currently, the alerts I configured and the interfaces are running from client 001.

How do I use the SAPConnect config on client 000 for sending internet emails?

Please help.

Thanks.

I managed to see the email in my SAP alert inbox.

I haven't been able to see my alerts because for some reason, the alert inbox of PIRWBUSER is being opened instead of my dialog user (PISUPER).

But my question about internet email still remains, because I still cannot send internet email alerts.

My SAPConnect is configured on client 000, whereas my alerts are running on client 001.

Is this possible?

use E-mail . fo r this you need configure it in SCOT and SOST.

Hi Wee,

<i>My SAPConnect is configured on client 000, whereas my alerts are running on client 001.</i> - your alert should be running on the same client in which you are logging through SAPConnect.......these clients should be same......otherwise you will get error in alert generation.......

you can give internet email address.......the only thing you have to see that through your network you can access the internert email server of your internret mail address......

SCOT should be configured on the Client on which the Alert is being triggered.

Hi,

this information is clearly explained in above blog yaar.. and also i repeatedly stressed.. seeit..

ok..next

yes you can do it by configuring the SCOT for 001 client.and you would have to give mail addresses in Su01 for each user.

and also smtp configurations also should be done..

Thank you everyone so far for your relentless support.

I'll surely reward points to everyone.

One last question before I configure my SCOT on 001.

Reason why I configured my SCOT on 000 was for ccms, because my monitoring server is running off client 000.

So I just want to confirm: Is there any implication if i configure SCOT on both 001and 000?

Thanks again.

Hi,

Wee,

1. If i remember your ealier thread correct also, I would suggest that you drill down in Where Did the Error Occur. Instead of no restriction, select Adapter Engine and also your Corresponding Adapter and then trigger the error message and check if the alert is triggered.

2. ><i>When I click on "Alert Inbox" -> "Subscription", I get a message "The table does not contain any entries". Is this correct?</i>

Yes this is correct. You have defined in your alerts as the option as FIED RECIPIENTS. You also have options like Reciepients via User Role and Subscription Authorization in ALRTCADTDEF.

The Subscription option in Alert Inbox makes sense only if you have not defined a Fixed Reciepient and instead defined a Reciepient Via User role and subscription authorization in ALRTCATDEF. In this case, if instead of giving a fixed reciepeint you give the above options in ALRTCATDEF, the user has to manually subscribe to the Alerts. In your case as you are have defined the fixed recipient you need to provide the subscription in Alert Inbox.

When I click on "Where did the error occur" -> "Adapter Engine", I do not have a choice of errors from the dropdown. I only see one option "*".

Is this right?

I see.

I've also managed to overcome this problem by selecting "Subscription Authorization" in the Alert Category Definition page, and entering SAP_XI_MONITOR as one of the roles.

After that, I am able to see a the alert category defined. By default it's already subscribed, because I'm using the same user - PISUPER.

I saw in another post that the option "Suppress Multiple Alerts of this Rule" should be left unchecked. I tried that, but I still do not see any alerts raised in ALRTDISP.

What did I miss?

Please help.

Thanks.

Ron,

In where did the error occur, you should be able to select Adapter Engine and then you should be able to select the Corresponding Adapter Type in the next box adhjacent to it.

Try to do this and select your XI adapter and try to run your scenario and see if now the error is triggered.

Also, check note : 913858 and also see the notes it has attached to it and see if there is anyt note that is related to adapter engine alerts not getting triggered.

I do not see the option as you've mentioned.

In "Where did the error occur?" -> choose radio button for Adapter Engine -> "Adapter Type" dropdown list only contains *.

I can see values populated for "Integration Engine/Error Category" and their corresponding "Error Code".

Somehow the list of Adapters are not shown in my dropdown.

Guys,

I think you don't understand my situation.

I have no other items in the dropdown list.

The only item to choose from is "*", furthermore, I cannot manually enter data into the dropdown.

How can I populate this dropdown list?

Ron

Wee,

Step 1: in alert configuration of RWB select your alert from select alert categroy which is at bottom of this page.

Ste2: once you select this you can see your alert in Alert Rule Defination. in this you should see our alert rule activated checked and in alert category your alert will be their. if not then their is some problem.

step3: In conditions everthing is "*".

step4: where did the error occur? . in this you have 3 optins a.no restications

b.intergation engine|Error catgeory. if you have selected then this should able edit mark and all should be in gray which is not edit if you dont see this their some problem.

if it is in white that is edit mode if you drop down the Error categroy you find different optins

Step5: same for Adapter engine|adapter error

I might have found an answer:

TCode : ALRTDISP

But when I execute this request, I do not see any entries.

This means that no alerts was raised, which answers why nothing is found in the alert inbox.

BUT how do I raise an alert? The error is displayed in Message Monitoring. But how do I raise an alert for this error?

Can somebody please help?

Thanks.
